The case played a fundamental role in the history of the Pinot Noir of the Villa di Bagnolo. In fact in the 70s when the Marchesi Pancrazi wanted to replant the vineyards of the Bagnolo winery, Municipality of Montemurlo, he incurred a mistake on the part of the nurseryman he supplied, instead of the traditional Sangiovese grown in these areas, Pinot Noir.

Only after a few years, at the end of the 1980s, thanks to the intervention of the current oenologist Dr. Nicolò D'Afflitto, did the company notice the error and understand the potential given by the territory he converted the company production to Pinot Noir to starting in 1989.

The vineyards are planted on land located at the bottom of Monte Ferrato (Bagnolo - PO) at an altitude of about 150 meters above sea level.

The climate is low in the hills, cool and well ventilated even in summer, with an important temperature range.

The soil is of volcanic origin, clay-schist, of medium texture and rich in skeleton and minerals, in particular iron; characteristic is the presence of Serpentino (green marble); excellent humidity level given by the presence of water a few meters above the ground.

Pinot Noir is produced in about 5 hectares, 4000 plants per hectare –Guyo -. With a plant sixth of 2.5 x 1.
